Grab Bars
There should be a grab bar at least 42 inches long on the side wall. This grab bar should begin no more than 12 inches from the rear wall, and should extend at least 54 inches from the rear wall.
There should be at least 12 inches clearance between the grab bar and any protruding objects above the grab bar, and 1.5 inches between the grab bar and any protruding objects below.
Grab bars should be mounted no less than 33 inches and no greater than 36 inches above the floor to the top of the gripping surface.
The grab bar on the rear wall behind a toilet should be at least 36 inches long. On the side of the toilet with the sidewall, this bar should extend at least 12 inches past the centerline of the toilet. On the open side of the toilet, the bar should extend at least 24 inches past the centerline of the toilet.
